EXAMPLE REPORT

TYPE OF EXAMINATION

Computed tomography was performed utilizing volumetric technology in order to minimize radiation dose to the patient. An image matrix of 768x768 was selected. A data set of 576 profiles was converted to DICOM standard and sent to a distant workstation for diagnostic intepretation. Multiplanar images in axial, sagittal and coronal orientations were generated with a resolution of 0.30 mm. Three-dimensionally rendered images were generated using proprietary software.

RADIOGRAPHIC FINDINGS

The cephalometric projections demonstrate the relative osseous relationship of the mandible to the maxilla and the maxilla to the craniofacial base. The three-dimensionally rendered skull graphic shows osseous dehiscence of the left zygomaticomaxillary suture. This presentation is consistent with radiographic artifact. Evaluation of the two-dimensional multiplanar images confirms the osseous integrity of the midface. No abnormalities are noted.

A corrected tomographic evaluation of the right and left temporomandibular joints is unremarkable. The three-dimensionally rendered image of the right TMJ depicts erosion of the superior aspect of the condylar head. This represents radiographic noise and should not be misinterpreted as osseous degeneration. The cross-sectional views verify the integrity of the cortical envelope.

The multiplanar images provide a detailed analysis of the osseous anatomy. The paranasal sinuses appear clear bilaterally. The ostiomeatal complex is patent. The panoramic projection demonstrates the relative position of the dentition within the maxilla and mandible. No osteoblastic/osteolytic pathology is evident.

RADIOGRAPHIC IMPRESSION

Incidental findings as noted above. The series is essentially unremarkable for radiographic evidence of fracture, cyst involvement, fibro-osseous lesions, trauma, tumor formation or occult osseous pathology within the imaged volume of tissue.
